Melissa Mamas Kadikau is originally from the Republic of Vanuatu, an island archipelago in the western South Pacific Ocean.
She first started doing yoga because it helped her deal with the challenges of living in the United States. Practicing yoga everyday grounds her being, and reminds her of gardening on her sub tropical island home. Yoga is not a common practice in Vanuatu, but many indigenous practices, such as gardening, are infused with a sense of spirituality. For her, yoga is not just an exercise—it is a way of life.
Melissa completed her yoga teacher training with The ZenSpot Institute in 2014 and she and her husband Latham are the parents to two beautiful boys.
